Indigo class, Year 5, have been on Dean Field camp since Wednesday this week. They arrived at Dean Field study centre before lunch, in time to pop their bags in their rooms and attend a safety briefing before lunch. Wednesday afternoon they enjoyed splashing in the stream, working in teams to solve problems and complete challenges and built some shelters in the woods. Wednesday evening they headed into the woods for a campfire and a chance to toast marshmallows to make s’mores. Thursday morning they enjoyed some orienteering in the forest, zipping down the zip line and crawling through tunnels. The afternoon was spent den building, climbing the wall and taking a leap of faith as well as following the tunnels. Wednesday evening they enjoyed a disco, Mrs Young believes there are some budding front men for Brit Pop bands in the future! A good time was had by all and some went to bed a little hoarse. Friday morning means re-packing bags and a morning of problem solving, climbing and tunneling before a final lunch an heading back to school.
This week the school has been a whole lot quieter, especially on Wednesday, as each year 5 class took their 3 day trip to Deanfield. They have been shelter building, orienteering, exploring tunnels and completing a stream study. They explored the woods at night before singing songs round a campfire and eating smores! Other activi-ties included the climbing tower, zip line and they also had a karaoke disco ! We’re proud of the way the children behaved on their first overnight trip with the school.
