GENERAL NEWS

Bookfair 10 – 16 March
The Travelling Book Fair is coming into the school for one week from 10 March.  They are providing us with a fabulous range of books selected from leading publishers across fiction and non-fiction.  Leaflets have been put in the bookbags this week which feature a selection of the books which will be on offer.

The Travelling Book Company will reward us with 60% commission on all our sales so please make a visit and invite family and friends.  The fair will be held in the foyer area outside the school office and will be open between 8.30am and 9.00am before school and after school from 3.15pm until 3.45pm for one week from Wednesday 10 March after school until Tuesday 16 March.  Each class will be visiting the fair during the week so please provide your child with some spending money between 10 and 16 March if you are happy for them to purchase a book during school time.  If you do wish to purchase a book then please note that we can only accept cash or cheques (made payable to the school).  World Book Day vouchers can be used towards the cost of any books.  Vouchers are being sent home today.

If anyone is available to help with the setting up of the fair/selling books, then please contact the PTFA or leave a message in the school office.

Last year this was a very successful event which everyone enjoyed and resulted in the school being able to purchase many new books with the commission we received.

Parents Evening
Hopefully you will have now received your allocated time for meeting your child’s teacher at next weeks’ parents evening.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Caribbean Lunch
Vicky McNally (our cook) will be making a Caribbean lunch on Monday 8 March.  The menu will include Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Cajun Vegetarian Sausages, Caribbean Fruitcake and Tropical Smoothies.  If your child would like to try this tropical delight, the cost is £1.60.  Enjoy!!

Tesco Vouchers
We are collecting the Tesco vouchers again for ICT equipment.  Vouchers will be available in stores until Sunday 9 May.  There is a box in the entrance foyer.

Cuddly Cat
A small well loved, black & white cuddly toy cat was found in the school yesterday.  It is waiting to be reclaimed in the foyer!

PTFA NEWS

Notice Board
We’re in the process of updating the notice board in the foyer – take a look for all event dates, fundraising news and uniform details.

Invitation Books
There are still a few outstanding books to be returned - please send these back to school as soon as possible. If you wish to keep your book, please send in a cheque made payable to "Emersons Green Primary School PTFA" for £22.99. We look forward to updating you next week on how much money has been raised.

Eyes Down For Bingo Night!
Join us for a family fun evening of Bingo on March 26th 6pm–8pm. We’ll have games, prizes, raffle, hot snacks and bar. All welcome – the more the merrier! Tickets will be on sale the week before the event.

Easter Colouring Competition
The Christmas colouring competition proved so popular that we thought we’d repeat it again as an Easter colouring competition. From w/c 22nd March, there will be two trays of colouring pages in the foyer – one for Juniors and one for Infants. There’ll also be an honesty box where you can place your entry fee (20p per sheet). All completed colouring pages should be returned to school and placed in a third (completed) tray with the pupil’s name and class details on the back. Winning entries will be picked and announced before half term.

Fundraising Website
A reminder to use the fundraising site http://www.easyfundraising,.org.uk/emersonsgreenptfa   you have to register first and then remember to shop through the site.  There is also a search facility where each search you do you are paid 1p for.

EG-Bay
The cost to advertise is £1 per week and advertising cards for display can be purchased from the office.  Obviously, there will be certain restrictions, rules and regulations to follow that are displayed with the board.  So sort out that old junk and sell it on the board.

Out Of School Club

The Out of School Club now meets at Emersons in the morning (7.30-8.40am) when breakfast is available and the evenings (3.20- 6.00pm). This is proving to be a huge success and the children are enjoying not having to trek up to Mangotsfield after school. There are still places available but are likely to fill up quickly. If you would like more information please contact Tina on 07786006906.
