LEAP
LEAP stands for:
L- Leadership,
E- Enjoyment and Enrichment,
A- Achievement
P- Participation
LEAP involves children working towards gaining awards in different aspects of their lives. It has been designed to celebrate their achievements and encourage further developments in each area.
The nine aspects (Sport and Fitness, Health, Leadership, Arts, Communication and Language, Citizenship, Global Awareness, Technology and Innovation, and Environment) are sub divided into nine challenges. The children need to demonstrate successes in a number of challenges for each level of award, - 3 Bronze, 6 Silver and 9 Gold. We expect most children to be able to achieve a Bronze award by the end of KS1 and a Gold award by the end of KS2. We would not expect all children to get all awards but to focus on their interests and current successes.
Each child has a ‘Passport to Success’ which is signed by the teacher when they have met each challenge.
This award system is not mandatory and involves children, parents and school working together. The child is responsible for selecting which LEAP award to focus on, and in gathering evidence to show their teacher. This may involve them bringing in certificates, club memberships or projects done at home or verification from parents about a child’s involvement in outside school activities.
