10th Birthday Celebration Year

Term 1 of the birthday year has been very busy for all of us, we hope the children have been inspired to aim high with all the events that have taken place so far.
A Review of October Aiming high, flying kites
All the children had a wonderful time making and flying their kites on the 13th and 14th October.  It was great to see all the smiling faces as they flew their kites in the playground.  We hope you were able to make it to the Kite Display, unfortunately a lack of wind (not usually a problem!) lead to a shorter display than planned but year 6 did a fantastic job running up and down the school field trailing huge kites behind them.  The ghost kite, in particular, was an amazing sight.  A big thanks to Nick James, the kitemaker, for all his hard work and expertise.  Also, a huge thanks to our parent volunteers – Mrs Carolyn Roberts, Mrs Michelle Smith, Mrs Lara Loomes, Mrs Katy Hall, Mrs Clare Lovell, Mrs Vicki Williams and Mrs Liz Dean - who came in Thursday to help out in reception, year 1 and year 2.

Rainbow Street Party

On Friday 15th October, children wore their brightest rainbow colours into school for the first non-uniform day of the year.  At lunchtime we had a street party, with children sitting together in their families and in turn their houses (Amber, Citrine, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald).  They enjoyed eating their boxed lunches outside and it was great to see the riot of colour from bunting, clothing and party hats.  After lunch the children played party games in their classrooms.

In assembly the party continued, and no party is complete without cake.  Following a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday to us” all the children and staff enjoyed some birthday cake, a delicious treat to finish off a wonderful week.  Huge thanks you to Mrs Amanda Abrahams for helping set up and clear away for the street party.  And a very grateful thank you to Mrs Ali Rawling who made the most amazing cake The money raised from the non-uniform day will help fund the Birthday Celebrations.
